Homes You Can Depend On – Hurricane Irma 2017

We have always had one vital mission for our FMHA members – build homes that families will feel safe in. This 2017 hurricane season demonstrates the strength and resilience of our manufactured housing industry. Our service providers hand-built these homes with the highest quality and standards to ensure that you can put your life into them.
In September 2017, Hurricane Irma tore through Florida with record breaking speeds. According to NPR, this hurricane sustained its 185-mph winds for 37 hours, which is “the longest any cyclone around the globe has maintained that intensity on record,” according to Phil Klotzbach, a research scientist at Colorado State University. On Monday, September 4th, Irma’s sustained winds were 120 mph. On September 5th, they were 185 mph, with gusts of 213 mph. Many site-built homes were impacted, but manufactured home owners were thrilled to find their houses standing strong.
