Fannie Mae's December National Housing Survey indicates that 26 percent of Americans believe home prices will rise over the next year, an improvement of 4 percentage points from the previous month. On average, respondents expect prices to bump up 0.8 percent, although 18 percent of those polled said they expect them to fall in the New Year and 52 percent expect them to be flat. Some 71 percent of Americans, meanwhile, consider now a good time to purchase a home.
